| The Sean Treacys Club was founded in 1958 at 18 Marius Road, Tooting Bec, South London. Its founding members were Mick Maunsell, Con McGrath, Pakie Hourigan, Paddy Quinlan (all Limerick), Johnny Connolly R.I.P. (Galway), Paddy Crowe (Tipperary). The first Chairman, Paddy O'Brien, was from Doon in Co. Limerick. The first Secretary was Sean O'Donnell (R.I.P.), Kiltelly, Co, Limerick, and the first treasurer was also a Limerick man, Con McGrath from Doon.
They trained in Tooting Bec Common and reached the final in their first year. They were narrowly defeated by a single point by Brothers Pearse, but went on to greater things the following year.
Pakie Hourigan was the club's first captain. Hourigan was an outstanding centre-back. He played minor with Limerick in 1952, and senior in 1953. He came to London in 1954 and played with Brian Borus for four years, winning a senior championship in 1955. He was one of the most dedicated and respected players in London. Everybody in the club was very sad to see him move back to Ireland in September 2002. He lives in Cappamore in Co. Limerick now, and we wish him and his wife Mary the very best.
